Empowering Your Family with Knowledge

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Thank you to those parents who attended our Parent-Teacher Interviews on Thursday 7 March. These interviews provide an invaluable opportunity for meaningful dialogue, mutual understanding, and shared goal setting.

As a teacher, engaging in positive discussions with parents reinforces the sense of partnership in supporting a child’s growth and development. It allows for the celebration of achievements, acknowledgment of progress, and identification of areas for further enhancement.

For parents, these interviews offer insights into their child’s academic, social, and emotional wellbeing, empowering them to actively participate in their child’s educational experience.

Empowering Your Family with Knowledge

Join us for an insightful and empowering presentation for prents on Respectful Relationships, Human Sexuality and Body Safety, with Vanessa Hamilton.

Vanessa Hamilton, an experienced Sexual Health Nurse of over 25 years, has left an indelible mark on healthcare. From her early days in HIV Nursing at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London to her roles as Advanced Practice Nurse and Nursing Services Manager at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre, Vanessa has championed comprehensive care.

As a Clinical Nurse Consultant at Austin Health, Vanessa showcased her expertise in Rehabilitation and General Medicine. Additionally, Vanessa has dedicated over 18 years to educating others, serving as a lecturer and advocate for sexual health.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, it’s crucial for parents to equip themselves with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate sensitive topics with their children. Vanessa’s presentation offers a safe and welcoming space for parents to learn, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into fostering respectful relationships and promoting body safety.

The presentation aims to equip parents with ways to tailor conversations with their children about:

  • Healthy and respectful relationships
  • Body & Protective Safety
  • What is Normal Early Childhood Sexual Behaviour
  • How Babies are Made and Born
  • Puberty Preparation
  • Internet Safety and Our Sexualised Society

Don’t miss this invaluable opportunity to strengthen your family’s bond and ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child.

Ambassadors in Action

In Week 9 of this term, our Years 5 and 6 Ambassadors will be running a House Easter Activity Event involving all the Barbreck students.

The Ambassadors have been busy creating and preparing fun activities for their Houses to take part in, from obstacle courses to Easter crafts. The Barbreck girls will work in multi-age House groups to complete a number of fun Easter activities.

Through collaborative projects and interactions with peers at varying stages of development, students learn the value of teamwork, empathy, and effective communication. The session will run on Wednesday 27 March, from 8:30am till 9:50am.

Division Swimming

On Friday 8 March Abigail Chan, Mariella Simmons, Kimberly Chen, Ivy Zu, Samara Grinsell, Imogen Brownjohn, Nina Steedman, Catherine Barry, and Ping Hui Li competed at the Division Swimming Carnival.
