A busy week ahead

Monday 3 May 2010

Thank you to the hard working Snowsports Committee and Mr Paul Cross who were part of our Sunday Snowsport equipment swap. These events always require a great deal of preparation and organisation but are of great benefit to many families. It reminds us that autumn is fast passing and winter is arriving and therefore snowsports cannot be far away!

This week, beginning with a new month, is one of great activity. We are very pleased to welcome our Old Girls to assembly on Tuesday and I want to congratulate the committee, especially those members who have worked so hard to ensure that the assembly will be memorable for our former students and our present girls.

Our House Cross Country is to be held on Wednesday. Once again it is part of our Student Foundation fundraising activity where all funds raised will continue to support selected girls on Palm Island through The Catherine Freeman Foundation education programs. We are fortunate to be able to work with the Foundation in an ongoing way. All parents are invited to attend the Kevin Bartlett Reserve. For the event program please click here.

Thursday sees our students in Years 9 to 12 spending time with mentors and experts looking at life beyond school and careers.

Some of our drama students are also well into rehearsal for the upcoming Senior School Production of The Boy Friend. Tickets are selling fast and it's sure to be wonderful entertainment for the whole family. The season runs from Wednesday 19 May - Friday 21 May. Tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for Students/Concession and must be purchased online at www.stcatherines.net.au/boyfriend.

Friday is a relatively peaceful day but causes me to remember last Friday when our Years 5 to 8 students all took part in a most exciting mathematics games day. Not only did the day feature maths and maths activities but all groups had students from all year levels in them. It gave the Year 8s a chance to not only show their leadership skills but also to bring their group together and manage the group for the day. I would like to thank all staff who were involved in the preparation and management of the day and particularly Mrs Janette Matt for her inspiration and leadership.

I wish our Music Co-Captains, Amanda Lee and Kristen Field, well for their ‘Musical Theatre Spectacular' on Saturday night which they have organised to raise funds for the Epilepsy Research Centre.
