A fun time at camp!
Thursday 4 March 2010
Last week our Years 7 and 8 students participated in their year level camps, and from all accounts the girls had a wonderful time! In today's blog I have asked Ms Jenny Molloy, Dean of Year 7, and Mrs Gina Peele, Dean of Year 8, to give an overview of the girls' time together.
Year 7 Camp
On Monday 22 February all of the Year 7 girls headed off to Phillip Island for their transition camp. On the first day we visited the farm on Churchill Island and arrived at our camp late on Monday afternoon. The girls participated in a variety of group activities at the camp site and that night went to the penguin parade. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side - we were washed out and only saw four fairy penguins!! The next day the weather cleared and the girls were rearing to go with their physical activities. Each girl rode a bicycle around Churchill Island, and learnt how to surf and kayak. A fun time was had by all!
Year 8 Camp
The Year 8 girls had a fabulous experience rafting in Eildon. The camp involved rafting in both two person inflatable rafts and 10 person inflatable rafts. Some groups even swam the rapid called ‘Horrus' with their group leaders. The girls enjoyed their one night camping experience in preparation for their five day Mitchell River trip.
