Geography Fieldwork Camp
Tuesday 2 March 2010
Today I have invited Miss Jane Shannon, our VCE Geography teacher, to highlight the investigations conducted on the VCE Geography Fieldwork Camp to Anglesea.
On Sunday 21 February, students studying VCE Units 3 and 4 Geography boarded a bus for Anglesea for the two day Geography Fieldwork Camp. Years 11 and 12 students collected fieldwork data for their first School Assessed Coursework (SAC) task for Year 12 Geography, with Anglesea serving as the local resource that the students were investigating. The beach, sand dunes, river mouth and human environments such as the Surf Life Saving Club and car parks were thoroughly investigated with user surveys conducted, photographs taken, sketches drawn and careful geographic observations made over the two days. The end result of the Anglesea Fieldwork Camp will be a detailed fieldwork report describing how the Anglesea main beach resource is used and managed and a management policy will be written by the students detailing how they think that Anglesea main beach should be managed in the future. The girls worked very well, as well as having a lot of fun at Anglesea!
