Family and Performing Arts
Monday 5 September 2011
We have just had a beautiful weekend in terms of weather. This made the celebration of Father’s Day, whether it occurred on the Saturday or the Sunday, an even happier occasion for those involved with family and friends.
Mother’s Day and Father’s Day perhaps are best put together as Friends’ and Parents’ Day where we celebrate those who have had a great influence on our lives as children and indeed as adults.
This week we have a continuation of snowsports and on Tuesday 6 September, our Epstein Singers will be travelling to Ballarat for one of our State’s most important Eisteddfods. We wish them well in this very challenging competition. It is interesting to know that much of the Ballarat musical scene had links with the original College of Mines many, many years ago. One of Australia’s finest recorder players and musicians,Genevieve Lacey, was a performer in Ballarat in school groups as well as a soloist. She chooses to make Australia her musical base and, she is not only an excellent recording artist and performer, but a wonderful communicator and teacher.
Our junior secondary students in Years 7 and 8 will be performing their drama piece on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings beginning at 7.00pm. Please come and support them as this is all part of their curriculum development.
There is also an instrumental concert on Thursday 8th at 6.30pm which is an important part of our Twilight Series.
