Writer in Residence
Wednesday 27 May 2009
In celebration of Library and Information Week, our girls were treated to a lunchtime talk in the Nicholas Library yesterday, by our Writer in Residence Krista Bell. Krista is an Australian children's book author who has published more than 20 titles for young readers. Krista is working with our Year 7 English and Drama classes for the whole of Term 2, assisting our girls as they write their own personal stories and then adapt these stories into a dramatic performance. What a wonderful opportunity for our girls to receive valuable guidance from a professional writer!
Influenza H1N1 (Swine Flu)
In tomorrow's newsletter we have included a notice regarding the Influenza H1N1 (Swine Flu) which I ask all of our School families to read carefully. The School is working under the advice of the Association of Independent Schools of Victoria and is adhering to all Government directives. In the event of any families becoming aware of any possibility that they, or any of their extended family, may have contracted the virus, we ask that they contact the School immediately.
The School is looking at ways students could continue their learning remotely, should a case of the virus affect a member of our current School community. Thank you for your cooperation.
