NAPLAN Testing and Professional Development

Tuesday 12 May 2009

NAPLAN is a nationwide snapshot of our young people's progress, particularly in the skills of literacy and numeracy.

This week our Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be completing NAPLAN Testing. NAPLAN is a nationwide snapshot of our young people's progress, particularly in the basic skills of literacy and numeracy. The expectations are the same for all students throughout Australia and that is they should be at, or above, a nationally set benchmark for their age/year level.

Last night, the Centre for Strategic Education held a very well attended professional development seminar at St Catherine's. There were three programs offered and all were very well received by the teaching staff who attended. Excellent discussion, often of a very practical nature, took place. It was clear that all who came also enjoyed the ‘real' seminar - a meet and greet while enjoying Catering Manager Julie Pell's excellent finger food after the presentation and discussion! Many different schools were represented at the seminar and St Catherine's was proud to be an excellent venue.
