Celebrating the achievements of our Class of 2010

Monday 13 December 2010

Each year, the incoming Year 12s begin with a full program, not only of study but of what is essentially a school leadership position for each girl. They are our Senior class, and thus, by definition, the mentors for the rest of the School. A number of the girls have official positions related to specific tasks, but the majority through their House and co-curricular activity have a great opportunity to lead through their firm cultural understanding of the School and its values.

By the end of Term 3, the group has completed participation in many co-curricular activities, and has most importantly been engaged in academic pursuits and subject assessment. Term 4 is enormously busy and varied. A most important feature is of course the external exams themselves, as well as the Awards Night and Valedictory Dinner which are shared with parents and staff.

The middle week in December has become known as ‘results time’. Most parents would remember looking up results in newspapers or waiting to receive a letter in the post box. Today, however, electronic delivery is the most prevalent way of gaining this information. As a school, we are incredibly proud of the efforts made by all our 2010 Year 12 students. We are sure that every girl has sought her own excellence of endeavour in all she has undertaken. This is a real measure for present and future success. Groups can be compared, schools can be cross referenced, and different sections of education can be remarked upon through the press and various tables that are published. It is, however, the individual’s ‘PB’ or their own pursuit for the excellence they can show that is the real measure of a student’s life at School.

It is an absolutely delightful moment to be able to congratulate each girl and to share with them their thoughts about their future.
The St Catherine’s Old Girls which include all who have attended our School, presents a kaleidoscope of varied interests, careers and achievements. We look forward to hearing from our Class of 2010 as they move into their next stage of their lives.
