A busy time for our community

Community
Last week was an extraordinary week for our wider School Community. The Nil Magnum Nisi Bonum (Nothing is Great unless it is Good) Project, organised by the dedicated committee of Old Girls, led by Abigail Hand, Virginia Jackson and Louise Lampard, was launched. Twenty-five former students, who were our first group to be honoured in the Project, came to Sherren House for a cocktail party and to be acknowledged by the School for their contribution to society. Profiles of all the women featured in the Nil Magnum Nisi Bonum Project can be viewed by clicking here.

The St Catherine’s alumna is extensive and has great depth. Our past students are represented in all areas of life and share a special bond through the time they have spent at St Catherine’s. Please take time to read the first 25 citations on the above link.

Friday afternoon saw the St Catherine’s Parents’ and Friends’ Association organise a wonderful special Christmas party for our students...particularly the younger ones. So many wonderful families contributed to the organisation and success of the evening. As ever with such events, the sheer friendly happiness that the children enjoy is our greatest reward.

Last week also saw the conclusion of our VCE examinations.

The week ahead

It is surprising how quickly time has passed throughout this year. Today we have Year 9s departing for their final camp, the Year 10 Odyssey group already away, Year 10 beginning their Beyond Boundaries expeditions, Year 11 examinations beginning and many activities still continuing for our incoming 2011 Year 7s.

One of the most interesting and important events at the end of the year are the panels that are held for each of our Senior School students, as staff, students and parents review past progress and plans for future subjects. These panels commenced on Thursday. They are an excellent opportunity to gain a real understanding of the academic work that will begin in 2011.
