Meet our International Captains
Man Ling (Ling Ling) Fung and Cheuk Yin (Tiffany) Tang, International Captains for 2010
Cheuk Yin (Tiffany) Tang (pictured left) grew up in Hong Kong before moving to Australia at the age of 14 to continue her education. Tiffany joined St Catherine’s as a boarder in Year 10. Man Ling (Ling Ling) Fung (pictured right) has been at St Catherine’s School since Year 7.
In 2010, what are you hoping to achieve as International Captains?
Tiffany: We have an International Food Fair coming up, so there’s a lot of organising associated with that. It’s an activity that brings everyone in the School together, so I want to help make it a great event that everyone can enjoy!
Ling Ling: I am hoping that all St Catherine’s students learn about different cultures and that all the new international students feel really welcome as it can be quite daunting coming to a new school and a new country at the same time.
How did you find settling in to St Catherine's when you started in the Senior School?
Tiffany: It was great – I made new friends easily because everyone was very welcoming. It was the first time I had been at an all girls’ school so the experience was a really interesting one. Living in the Boarding House has also been really fun as everyone gets on really well.
Ling Ling: I found that I settled in really well to Senior School. St Catherine’s is a smaller school so I got to know everyone quickly. The teachers were nice and supportive and always willing to help.
What are your favourite areas of study at St Catherine's?
Tiffany: I really love studying Psychology – it’s quite interesting to study aspects of the human mind.
Ling Ling: I like Japanese because I really enjoy learning languages.
What do you aspire to after Year 12?
Tiffany: I would like to pursue Arts and Psychology at university, and hopefully combine that with learning Korean. I am still thinking about whether I will stay in Melbourne or travel to the USA for university.
Ling Ling: I am thinking of studying Commerce or Pharmacy in Melbourne or Queensland, and continuing my study of Japanese. We will see what happens towards the end of the year.
What kinds of things do you enjoy doing outside of School?
Tiffany: I like watching movies with friends and having dinner. Sometimes it’s not about what you are doing but who you are with. So I like to just spend time with my friends.
Ling Ling: I like playing Badminton. On the weekend I like to go out with friends, relax and watch movies.
