Our Talented Writers
A selected group of St Catherine's students had the opportunity to hone their creative writing skills at a Talented Writers' Workshop held in March.
The workshop was directed by the School's Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Karyn Murray, and saw students from Years 7 to 10 complete various writing tasks and exercises.
Below is a sample of work by student Olivia (Year 8), who wrote these two 50 word mini sagas during the Talented Writers' Workshop.
Popping the Wrong Question
The sunset was beautiful, as was the garden. Could it be tonight? Suddenly, he knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said, "Look babe, I think you're great, I want to marry you." His impulsiveness shocked me. "So Jane, do you think it'll win over my Sarah?"
Predictable Knives
I didn't want to do it; I knew it would kill me instantly. I stood there, shaking. I then hesitantly plunged my scrawny body to its fearful death. Thousands of razor sharp knives dug deep into my weak limbs. "Gee mum, are you sure you put the solar heater on?"
