Living and breathing visual arts, Brigid provides a wealth of knowledge to St Catherine’s Arts Faculty. Since 2000 she has worked for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) in a number of roles: as a reviewer for the assessment of Studio Arts folios, five years as State Reviewer for Studio Arts, examination assessor and writer of practice examination questions and, more recently, the writer of the last two Studio Arts Study designs, advice to teachers and the assessment criteria for School Assessed Tasks.

Brigid has also co-authored the teaching and student guidebook for Studio Arts, Focus on Folio and is a regular contributor to the Herald Sun’s examination preparation features in addition to authoring articles in the National Gallery of Victoria members’ periodical.

Brigid is a practicing artist, working predominately in printmaking and painting. Her work has been exhibited at a number of group shows and on two occasions she has been awarded an acquisition prize at the Silk Cut printmaking award, with her artworks now in the National Gallery of Australia collection. Her expertise as a practicing artist and teacher is utilised as a judge for art exhibitions and guest speaker to open exhibitions.

A seasoned presenter at Art Education conferences Brigid shares her wealth of knowledge to improve the pedagogy of Art teaching across the state, as well as within the St Catherine’s community across our staff cohort.

Outside of School Brigid is a member of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne Arts Committee.
