This edition of VCE Insights follows the farewell of our Year 12 students. While they are no longer attending classes, they are certainly still present, either studying in the Library or meeting with their dedicated Year 12 teachers in preparation for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) written exams. Year 11 students are still required to attend their Unit 3/4 classes up until the day before their exam. These lessons will provide an excellent opportunity for students to continue with revision under the guidance of their teacher.

Earlier this term, I sent out a letter to Year 11 parents regarding the Unit 3/4 VCAA written examinations and I take this opportunity to highlight the following key points:

  • Year 11 students are granted a full day’s study leave (absence from school) prior to an examination if they have a VCAA external examination that is scheduled for a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. This concession is not extended to a student for the Friday prior to a Monday examination.
  • We encourage any Year 11 student whose VCAA external examination occurs during a morning session to attend their class following the examination.
  • Year 11 students sitting Unit 3/4 external examinations are not required to wear school uniform on the day of their examination.
  • Students are required to be at school at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their Unit 3/4 examination.
Mrs Tracey McCallum, VCE Coordinator

  • Wednesday 30 October: Unit 3/4 written examinations commence.
  • Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 November: Mid Term Break.
Please note that Unit 3/4 written examinations are being held on Monday 4 November.
  • Friday 8 November: Year 11 examinations commence.
  • Tuesday 20 November: Speech Night.

Save the Date
Our current Years 10 and 11 students have recently been informed that the Year 11 and Year 12 Formals are being held in Term 1, 2020:

  • Year 11 Formal: Friday 14 February at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Centre.
  • Year 12 Formal: Saturday 15 February at The Glasshouse.

Formal invitations will be sent out in the coming weeks.

Mrs Tracey McCallum has spoken with the Year 11 cohort about their upcoming Unit 3 and 4 Examinations. Mrs McCallum has briefed the students on everything they need to know regarding the sitting of their examinations and all necessary guidelines and procedures that must be adhered to.

Now that the Year 12s have finished their classes and are preparing for their final examinations, the Year 11 students have started their leadership of the School. The girls have taken on the responsibility of gate duty at the beginning and end of the day, they are participating in our Senior School assemblies each Monday and, of course, they are leading the House Arts preparation. It is a very exciting and busy time of the year.
