The media and those around us can spread a lot of doom and gloom about VCE, adding much pressure to an already significant two years. However, it is important to remember to put the year into perspective and not to believe all the hype. We would like to think that we all see that there is more to VCE than study and that each of our Classes of 2019 and 2020 will enjoy their final years of school. Being a Senior student can be exciting and a highly enjoyable and rewarding journey.

We would like to briefly touch on homework, in particular how much work VCE students should be doing each night. As stated in the School Record Book, it is expected that each Year 11 and 12 student will complete a minimum of two-and-a-half hours of homework per night. At VCE level, homework will consist of the completion of set tasks in class, reading and preparation for Outcomes and SACs. It is normal for your daughter to feel overwhelmed by the amount of homework she may have some nights and it may be necessary for her to prioritise throughout a busy week to ensure all deadlines are met.

Watch out for the things that can derail you:

  • Social media
  • Perfectionism
  • Over committing – learn to say no
  • Overly active social life, combined with late nights.
