Celebrating a Year of Art Making

Celebrating a Year of Art Making

With the end of the year quickly approaching, it gives the Art Department the opportunity to present the students’ artworks to the School community. The artworks are from students from all year levels who have spent many hours honing their ideas and skills. Presenting their artworks can be confronting due to the very nature of exhibiting artwork, opening it up to critical consideration from their peers.

The Art Department is pleased to present two exhibitions this term:

  • The VCE Visual Arts Exhibition, opening Friday 12 October at 6.00pm and continuing over the weekend from 2.00pm-4.00pm daily.
  • The Year 7-10 Visual Art Exhibition, from 17 October and coinciding with the Year 7 and 8 play Tales from the Arabian Nights.

The VCE Visual Arts Exhibition will present the VCE folios from Media, Studio Arts and Visual Communication Design. Every year it is a delight to see the students’ diverse exploration of ideas and art forms, highlighting their creative talents. There is much to see and be inspired by. All are welcome to the opening. The Year 7-10 Visual Art Exhibition will be displayed in the Winter Garden for one week from 17 October. A visit will provide you with an opportunity to see the many different art forms the students have explored including, textiles, ceramics, painting, printmaking, drawing, photography and design. Seeing the progressive development of the students’ understanding of different art forms and materials as they progress each year in the Visual Arts, is very rewarding for their teachers and the students themselves.

We hope that the School community takes the time to visit these exhibitions.
