Welcoming our Grandparents and Special Visitors to Campbell House

There has been much excitement in the Early Learning Centre for the past two days as the children welcomed their Grandparents and Special Visitors. The children enjoyed performing some of their favourite songs and sharing stories with their special guests. We also shared a delicious morning tea with the visitors. The children took pride in showing their guests around the classroom and sharing their learning through their personal journals. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Grandparents and other visitors to see the children in the ELC environment with their friends and teachers. This proved to be a very special occasion for both the children and visitors, one that was thoroughly enjoyed, and created many happy memories.

Winter Coats

As we approach the colder months, please remember that the children need to bring a coat with them to the ELC each day.  They need to wear a coat when engaging in the outdoor learning program or when walking to and from specialist classes in other areas of the school.

  Blue Gum Room

The natural environment provides wonderful ways to inspire children and provoke everyday learning encounters.

The Blue Gum children have immersed themselves in various experiences to gain an appreciation of the seasonal changes in the environment around them. Some of these experiences include leaf rubbings, autumn tree collages and autumn leaf collecting.

We have observed the children searching for and collecting autumn leaves when they are playing outside. In the classroom, an autumn leaf interest table has been set up with the leaves the children have collected, fine line black pens and autumn toned coloured water paints. The attention to detail displayed in the children’s drawings is reflective of their understanding of the veins that run though the leaves.

The children gathered as a group to share their autumn leaf drawings with one another. They identified that no leaf was the same and placing them in a circle reminded them of the previous patterns they created earlier in the year.

 Dogs outside the School Gates

While we love dogs, please ensure they are restrained when you are outside the entrance gates to Barbreck and Campbell House. We know that walking to school with the family dog is a grand and healthy activity, however we have a number of students and parents who are either very afraid of dogs or allergic to dog fur.

If you are walking the dog, we ask parents to say goodbye to your child at the school gate. If you are coming to Campbell House, please walk your child into the classroom after tying the dog to the front fence.

We fully anticipate that all families will appreciate the need for this special request.
