Senior Rowing News

Nagambie Regatta: Senior rowers returned to Nagambie on 10 February to race at the Nagambie Regatta. It was a solid day of learning for the students with 2000 metre racing.

Students learnt a lot regarding their execution of racing performances, focusing on their own consistency of speed through power, rhythm and concentration. These lessons will now be addressed in training so we can continue to build towards HOSG.

GSV Weekly Sport

GSV Weekly Sport training for Term 1 is well and truly underway, with large numbers of girls participating in Softball and Tennis.

Junior Tennis started with a fantastic coaching clinic on the Tuesday before students officially commenced School. This was a great opportunity for the new Year 7 students to meet their peers and get a taste of GSV Sport. Mr Rick Foley, from the Victorian Tennis Academy, along with his coaches provided around 60 students with expert advice on their game.

The great commitment to GSV Sport has been seen across all Year levels with approximately 80 students attending Junior Tennis training sessions and around 60 students at Intermediate Tennis training. These girls have been working hard in eager anticipation of their first matches next week.

The Senior Tennis team kicked off the year on a positive note. Having only had one training session prior to their first match, the girls came away with strong victories against Loreto in both the A and B divisions. The Senior Softball team also approached their first game with enthusiasm, however, came up against a very tough Ruyton team. The students are committed to developing their skills under the helm of Softball Coach and St Catherine’s Old Girl, Charlotte Wyles (’11).

With the ever increasing commitment, enthusiasm and desire to improve from the St Catherine’s students, we are looking forward to an exciting year of GSV Sport. For all details regarding Term 1 sport, including match fixtures and times, please consult the mystcatherines sport page.
