Thank you to our 2017 Families

The support for a Barbreck collection of gifts and vouchers/food to be sent to the 2017 Salvation Army Christmas Appeal was indeed a symbol of the generosity of our families.  At a busy time of year, we definitely appreciated the warm and fulsome endorsement of our request to send a substantial donation towards the Appeal.

In addition, we thank the parents, organised by Mrs Fleur Calvert who so readily gave their time and effort towards picking up and transporting the donations. All very much appreciated.

The amount sent from the Junior School after the Carol Service in December towards the “Christmas Bowl” Appeal was $821.50.  Thank you to all families who assisted with this total.

Junior School Parents’ Information Night and Social Evening – Thursday 15 February 2018
Years 1 to 6

Parent Information Evenings led by class teachers, in your child’s classroom, commences at 6.00pm on Thursday 15 February.

This information night will be followed by a ‘Welcome to 2018’ to be held in a’ Beckett Hall, followed by light refreshments at 7.30pm, hosted by the St Catherine’s PFA.

Prep Parents are invited to attend the Junior School Parents Social Evening hosted by the PFA at 7.30pm.

Sound communication between home, and School, assists students to feel secure and comfortable in their learning environments, an essential ingredient for effective learning.

We look forward to greeting all parents at the event. Please note children do not attend this event.

Preps Commence Full Days

After the first week of School for Preps experiencing half days, the girls have now commenced full time attendance on four of the five days (half days Wednesdays for Term 1). It has been so exciting to observe the enjoyment of all the Preps whilst they initially explore, wonder and inquire into the Prep journey. Many of our older students reflect upon their own Prep days with so many warm memories. They find it hard to believe that they were once so little and so young!

Barbreck Assemblies

Barbreck Assemblies, held each Tuesday 8.45am till 9.40am are a wonderful way for the Junior School community to draw together as a group and celebrate special events, showcase musical talent, learn about the School Values and enjoy singing together and applauding effort in so many ways. Year 6 students play a significant role in our assemblies – in their tasks as the leaders of the Junior School.

Parents are warmly welcome to attend the assemblies on any, or every Tuesday, even for a short time.

Sun Hats

A reminder that students must have a sunhat at School every School day especially in Term 1 and 4. This is compulsory. Outdoor lessons, recess and lunch periods all require students to wear their School hat or they need to sit in an area designated by staff as being out of the sun.

Barbreck District Tennis

Congratulations to Katharine Soutter and Keira O’Hara who represented St Catherine’s at our District Tennis tournament.
Both girls made the selection of the best eight and new student, Keira was successful as one of only two District girls to progress to the Division level.
Well done girls.
