Senior Hockey

St Catherine’s School 9 defeated Loreto Mandeville Hall 0

The girls played incredibly well, dominating Loreto and scoring 9 goals to win their last game. Gretel Newton-Brown (Year 12), Ingrid Crossing (Year 12), Alexandra McBain (Year 12), Lucy Skyrme-Jones (Year 12) and Eliane Sadler (Year 12) all scored goals which demonstrates the team’s progression from their first game. Having won two games, drawn one and losing one, the Senior Hockey team narrowly missed out on a GSV Grand Final spot. All of the girls should be extremely proud of their efforts throughout the season.

Senior GSV Netball A Team Sports Season Wrap

For the final round of Senior Netball the A team came up against the top of the ladder – Firbank Grammar. For most of the girls, this was their last game of GSV Netball, they all enjoyed every moment of the game despite it being a rather difficult match.

Luckily living out the ankle curse that struck the team early on, the girls had a great season playing together. We would not have had an amazing season without captain Lucy Church (Year 12) with her fierce determination, competitive spirit and leadership on the court. Combined with Chloe Page’s (Year 12) mid-court work and occasional fall on court. With the team work of Annabel Joubert (Year 11) and Lucinda Kelly (Year 12) who, despite being defenders, wanted to be goalers. They kept their persistence and Lucy starred with her two goals in her final game. These two definitely provided much amusement at every training and game without fail. We would not have had any wins without the goaling duo of Juliet Grant (Year 11) and Georgia Deacon (Year 12), who showed impressive form late in the season.

There must also be a very special mention to Isabella King (Year 12) who was the best all-rounder this season, swapping from defence to goals to mid-court each week with a massive smile and team spirit. After never playing netball before Emmelia Nichols (Year 11 ) picked it up and very quickly became the interceptor in this team, who everyone welcomed with open arms. Despite illness and some rather odd excuses for games and training, the team would not be complete without Alexandra Stopp (Year 12), who provided encouragement and entertainment whilst on court to all the girls.

It has been an absolute blast coaching the girls this season and I have thoroughly enjoyed all the humorous moments shared amongst us all.
