2017 Victorian State Sprint Championships – Meet Report

Over the weekend of February 11 to 12, the 2017 Victorian State Sprint Championships were held at MSAC.

The State Sprint Championships lure a large entry number from all over Victoria and outer regions. With swimmers being required to reach a qualifying standard, the Sprint Champs allow for Victoria’s best sprinters to face off over a weekend of racing.

The Sprint Championships host the four 50m events – Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle. The heat session is run on the Saturday with the finalists racing Sunday morning, with all swimmers competing in age groups.

Elodie Ferrali (13) stepped up for a day of racing after what has been a busy start to the School year. Elodie competed in the 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. For the first competition of the year, and a few months since the last big meet, Elodie swam well to hit her existing PBs and did even better to refine her 50m race execution.

Other St Catherine’s Aquatic swimmers qualified, but were unavailable to compete.

St Catherine’s Aquatic Upcoming Meets:

  • MLC LC Meet @ MSAC – February 26
  • Metro South All Junior Selection Trials – March 5
    14 and Under
    Open to Unregistered swimmers

Congratulations, Elodie, on fantastic swims early in the year.
