Staff Profile
Lisa Barker, Year 3 Teacher
In your time so far at the School, what is it you really like about St Catherine’s?
I love the wonderful commitment of the staff and their dedication to the students. I really enjoy working with colleagues who love their work and strive for excellence in everything they do. It is a highly motivating environment in which to work.
What does your role involve?
My role allows me to come into Barbreck and spend two days each week with the fabulous Year 3 girls, who love to learn and work together. Without doubt, the very best part of my role is spending time with an engaged and energetic group of students. Each girl is unique and creative; I learn a great deal from them each day.
How long have you been teaching?
After 20 years teaching I continue to be inspired and energised by the profession. I initially worked as a classroom teacher for many years before specialising in, and becoming a teacher of Japanese after several years of study, and I taught at Wesley College, which was where I was introduced to the Primary Years Programme.
What is something that you are looking forward to doing with the Year 3s this year?
I am looking forward to continuing to develop my understanding of children, and how they truly thrive and grow in an optimal educational setting. I am looking forward to sharing many moments of joy, inspiration and development with the Year 3s.
